Particularly significant for this event was the assistance of Judy and Dave Osgood, who donated $60,000, an amount that was matched by COOPEALIANZA and which helped establish a trust of $ 120,000, managed by the latter.
These funds, plus the contribution of the housing subsidy given by the State, are helping a good number of families benefit from new homes of excellent quality.
A project, similar to the one in Buenos Aires, took place in Sarapiquí in the province of Heredia, when nine families, who were living in Santa Rosa de Santo Domingo de Heredia, moved into their recently completed houses in a new community and took part in the opening ceremony.
Eight of these families are headed by dynamic heads of households, who have shown themselves to be very active in realizing the dream of having their own homes. They have taken the initiative to establish a series of micro-enterprise activities.
The cases of Sarapiquí and Buenos Aires are a reflection of a partnership between three institutions—Habitat, COOPEALIANZA and the government. Similarly, they are the result of the generosity of a donor family who made a significant financial contribution. |
